I'm getting lots of messages about unresolved symbols when I boot. I have
deleted the /lib/modules/x.y.z dir. and the run make modules_install, but
just a few of the original directories are created. When I try to reboot
the system says that it can't find the modules, for example I can't use the
ethernet card. Do you know what is going on?.
I have used depmod -aed and it report lots of symbols that each module
can't find. What amaze me most is that when I replace (for example)
/net/ne.o with the one that was previously installed the system doesn't
complain about that dependence any more. It seems that the compiler is not
doing his job. I have execute make mrproper, make dep, make zlilo, make
modules, make modules_install. Have I forgotten something?. By the way I'm
using Slackware 3.3 (kernel 2.0.30).
My system haves an /etc/rc.d/rc.modules which has lots of insmod lines,
apart from that there is an if clause to load kerneld and another to run
depmod. Where is the right place for this stuff the rc.modules or the rc.S?.
Finally in the howto says that I should have a /etc/conf.modules but I
don't, is this the same as rc.modules?
Thanks
Matias
