Since there is currently a discussion about SAMBA problems I thought I
would
add mine as well :)

We are using SAMBA internally as a file and print server for a couple of
Win95
and NT machines, security isn't really an issue as this is an isolated
network.
I have enabled plane-text passwords in windows NT, but when connecting
to the SAMBA machine I get the following messages in my syslog:
Sep 17 15:24:27 harley PAM_pwdb[847]: 1 authentication failure; (uid=0)
-> jdoe for samba service
This message scrolls and scrolls and after about 5 or 6 of them and then
NT pops
up a box saying the password I supplied as incorrect (my NT password and
UNIX
passwords are exactly the same). I then type in the same user name and
password
in this box and it connects the service.
This behavious is of course extremely annoying and fills up my logs file
with tons of
unneeded information.

What can I do to fix this?
