Howdy:

 I used 'pppsetup' on my slakware 3.5.0 system.
You need to know your IPS's access telephone number and prompts:
 Login:
 Password:
for example.  You can determine this by dialing in via standard
modem dial (minicom?).

$ /usr/sbin/pppsetup
will prompt your for this information and, if correct, you will have
two new commands: ppp-go & ppp-off.
