I have a problem getting "chat" to recognize my modem. I could sure use some
help/advice.
I am running 2.0.34 from a Slackware distribution, and the modem is on
/dev/cua2 port 0x3E8 irq 11. (setserial -g confirms that).
Below is the chat script I am trying to use, and below that are some lines
from /usr/adm/messages showing what happened.
I ran it with the command
chat -v -f scr1
and at the console it showed me "\d+++\dATH0" (without the quotes) then it
timed out and returned to the prompt.
Here is the script (with secrets suppressed!)

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am a newcomer to
Linux and would like to get this new installation off the ground... Thankls.
