I did an installation of RedHat 6.0 recently and now when I try to
rlogin to the computer, or even open an xterm locally I get
"Out of ptys"
or when using telnet:
"telnetd: All network ports in use.
Connection closed by foreign host. "
Does anyone knows what is happening here?
In /dev I ran
MAKEDEV pty
and then even
MAKEDEV generic
But that didn't solve the problem. All 175 ptys are there in /dev, so
the machine is not really out of ptys. However in /dev/pts it never has
more than 6 numbers open.
Any help would be most appreciated.
