This isn't exactly trivial, but most Mac comm software will help you with
this, yes.

You can get RS-422 / RS-232 cables easily in most developed countries.

You could, and any terminal software would make it work. Remember to use
X0 for dialing (i.e. atxd ) and you'll be set.
