Hi,

One of my clients has been participating in the btinteractive ADSL trial

in North London.

This trial has now moved on to the next phase and has changed over from
static IP allocation, which was working perfectly, to dhcp.

The internal network is a small one so uses static IP and routing on a
10.1.1.x address range accessing the server through eth0. The server
acts as file/print/mail server and also as a cacheing proxy web server.

Formerly the adsl router/modem was connected to eth1 and had a static
192.168.x.x IP.

Despite R'ingTFM and the mini-HOWTO and following all the instructions
therein, all attempts to get dhcpcd to configure eth1, either at boot
time or from the command line result in a freeze-up, usually
necessitating a single user boot to cure.

btinteractive, of course, don't have a clue 'cos it's not Whinedoze
95/98 (they don't even support NT). They asked me if I had run their
software (which is for W95/98) and then pointed me at a couple of
newsgroups which I can't access because my news feed doesn't carry them.

Can anyone give me any pointers that might help me to sort this out?

TIA,
Dave

PS. Please cc any replies direct, my mailing list delivery seems to be
patchy.
