Subject: India Internet Initiative

Hello Moderator,

I happen to see that you have set up a egroup list
for Cyberlaw in India. I thought that you and your
group members may be intrested in this.

Dr. M. Anandakrishnan, Chairman, Sub-Committee on IT-
Govt. of TN Chennai along with leading academicians
and businessmen and professionals has initiated to
form a regional and national level Professional/
NGO body for addressing India's concerns with ICANN and
other International Internet Regulating Bodies. The objective
of the body is to ensure adequate representation of Indians
in various Policy making bodies which govern Internet
functioning.

At present, India is grossly under-represented in these
bodies for the massive future potential it has. Compared
with India., even smaller nations like Singapore, Korea
and Malaysia have taken interest in such forums and has
got larger say in critical standardization issues.

If India does not take timely steps to become part of the
global forums, we will politically and economically
encounter huge loss of opportunity and eventually we
may not get the benefits that may be brought about
by Internet revolution.

We are looking for active members/other forums from
all the user communities, such as Government, Academic,
Business and Professionals to form similar initiatives in the
respective regions and develop a national level apex body
to represent India adequately in the Internet Space.

We have gathered support from countries like Singapore
for such an initiative. Interested persons may write to
me [EMAIL PROTECTED] to enable us coordinate to form such
initiatives in the other regions of India.
This would be a voluntary open initiative and responsible
professionals who want India to get its due share in the
Internet space may join this movement.

We also request you to freely forward this message
to other forums and mailing lists and potentially
interested persons to join us.

Thanks for your time.

Also please let me - whether I can become a member
of your egroup.

regards
A.J. Bala
