But /var/spool/mail is a directory.  Where in /var/spool/mail?  And who 
will handle quotas, aliases, mail-loops, etc.  And is it /var/spool/mail or 
/var/mail, anyway?

So the "Right Way" is to pass it on to a local MTA, which knows this stuff.
