No the mistake was in running rpm to install modutils without doing the
rpm --rebuilddb. It was the end of the rpm database as far as I could
find out. If anybody knows how to recover from it please do otherwise a
complete reinstall from a CD is what I would suggest.

Umm just a thought - should I make a HOWTO or something for - if so
where do I put it up ??
