Version 0.6 of dialmon is now available. This contains all the new
stuff from the 0.5-x releases; can also handle normal and shadow
passwords out-of-the-box. Many thanks to everyone who has tested and
commented on the 0.5-x releases.

It is currently available from ftp://195.92.31.34/pub/dialmon-0.6; there
is a .tgz source file, plus RPMs for RedHat 4.2 and 5.1. I'm not in a
position to definitvely check the 4.2 RPMs, but they have been generated
exactly as for the 5.1 RPMs, so they _should_ work.

The dialmon home page http://www.quaking.demon.co.uk/dialmon.html has
now been brought up to date, and contains links to the source and RPMs,
plus the LSM. The LSM is at the bottom of this mailing.

I don't seem to be able to upload to sunite at the moment.
/pub/Linux/Incoming won't work (as the message says it won't), but
/incoming/Linux does not exist. Dialmon will hopefully get there
in the nwe year.

I'm off on holiday until the new year, so comments and bug reports are
welcome as usual, but don't expect a quick reply.

DIALMON - A DIALD MONITOR
--------  ---------------

DIALMON is a monitor daemon which complements the diald daemon, and
allows client programs on other machines to display information about,
and optionally control diald. Features included are listed below; those
marked (*) are new from version 0.4.

        * diald state display
        * link up and down
        * link forcing and blocking (*)
        * link traffic display (bar or histogram(*))
        * diald packet queue display (*)
        * connection logging and display (*)
        * diald/pppd restart
        * multiple diald configurations
        * disable diald
        * user and host based access control

I have included clients which run on WfWG3.11 (with TCP/IP), on Win95/98/NT,
and Linux/X (does not support all - or most - of the features).

The LSM is:

Title:          dialmon
Version:        0.6
Entered-date:   17-Dec-98
Description: Dialmon is a monitor daemon for diald which allows
                clients on remote machines to display the current
                status of diald, and to optionally bring the link up,
                take the link down, and restart diald. Clients for
                Linux (tcl/tk), Win31 and Win95/NT4 are included. The
                windows clients also show transmission and reception#
                data; the Win95/NT4 version can display the diald
                packet queue and connection logging.
