I have Redhat Linux 5.1 with updates to the 2.0.35

I have installed the 0.98.1 diald version.
It will work automatically for a while most of the time after
the sytems has booted,
then the next day it does nothing. I have to send
"up" to /etc/diald/diald.ctrl. to
logon.
It times out OK.
Where can I look to see why it fails to start?
dctrl does not show what it is listening for, or at least I
can't find it.
I ran under redhat 2.0.27 the 16-4 diald for over a year
without a problem.
