I had one of those modems (internal) ... nice. (But I could never get a
higher speed upgrade. The local dealer told me there was a special
program where I could turn in my old modem and pay just about full price
for the new one. :-/ ) I never had any trouble with chat scripts.
Anyway, I'm guessing your problem might be stty evenp. "O" in ASCII has
odd parity while "K" has even parity. Maybe put (some of) the stty
command after chat?
