Another new version of diald is on http://diald.unix.ch :-).
This version is mainly bug fixes and clean up. In particular
it should handle the auto-route generation "feature" of 2.1 and
2.2 kernels better. It will also use the "ip" program in preference
to route if it is found in /sbin or /usr/sbin. On my systems
using ippp links controlled by diald I have found it necessary
to use ip's src option to set the source address on routes,
otherwise packets go out with a zero source address. I do not
have this problem with ppp links though.
If you have /sbin/ip or /usr/sbin/ip then it *must* support
the metric option (check "ip route help"). If it doesn't you
will have to either delete it or update it with the latest
version.
"ip" is part of the iproute2 archive on ftp.inr.ac.ru/ip-routing/.
I should have put all this in the diald documentation, but didn't.
