An earlier usenet message was posted that described
two of your error messages:

This is a weird little quirk from the earlier days of Linux. Just put
the following in /etc/conf.modules to get rid of error messages:
alias net-pf-4 off
alias net-pf-5 off
Methinks they ommitted this from the RedHat 5.0 installation manual,
whereas it was in the 4.0 manual. Go figure.
