None of those. Diald can be (and usually is) set up with different
inactivity timeouts for each protocol. So, say, after 4 minutes of no
ftp activity it will hang up, but http activity will keep the line up
for 10 minutes.
It is all controlled by the "filter" file that is usually included by
the /etc/diald/diald.options file. Take a look at it. The
standard.filter included with diald is well commented.
