If dctrl's not working, try netstat -M. This gives you the status of
the masquerading connections and will tell you if the connection's
being made from the linux box or other machines.
Also try turning on the named logging option by putting
options query-log
into /etc/named.boot. Then you may be able to cross reference the
lookups with diald starting the connection. Named logs it's lookup
requests in /var/log/messages and record the IP address of the
machine doing the request.
