diald will not build on RH5.2

Hi Guys

I am a newbie to Redhat, have just installed 5.2 and
am trying to install diald-0.16.

When I try "make depend" I get lots of warnings "this is the location
of the previous definition" and "make" gives warnings of "conflicting 
type previous declaration of ?????"

Do I need to do something before make depend ?

any Ideas anyone
