Your linux box is trying to resolve the hostname of the machine that is
connecting. It issues a DNS request and, since apparently you don't have a DNS
server or a configured hosts file, it will dial out and send that request to
your ISP's DNS server.
You should be able to solve this setting up a local DNS server or even a hosts
file.
