Hi,

        I use this, in /etc/diald.conf:
        -----------------------------------
        lock-prefix "/var/spool/uucp/LCK.."
        lock
        device /dev/ttyS1
        -----------------------------------

        And mgetty uses the lock file /var/spool/uucp/LCK..ttyS1 by default
so the handshaking will thru' the existance of this lock file and also
the 
pid contained in it. But I need to start mgetty first, wait a few
seconds 
after the modem was initialized and then run diald, diald will find the
modem device available.
