Well, if as you say, the 'diald.conf' is in your '/etc/diald' directory
then it IS in the WRONG place.
It belongs in '/etc', so that the fully qualified filename will be as
you've written = '/etc/diald.conf'.
Right now your fully qualified filename is '/etc/diald/diald.conf'.
