I use the following pppd options line and entries in the pap-secrets file to
match:

pppd-options asyncmap 0 user name1 remotename remote1 ipcp-accept-remote

My pap-secrets file looks like this (sort of :-):

name1          remote1    password1
name2          remote2    password2
