Netscape has an unfotunate tendency to do host lookups on the news servers
when it starts. As a result, it's frozen until it gets a response from a
DNS server. What you can do to solve this is to do an nslookup yourself
on the news host while you're conneted, and and add it to your /etc/hosts
file.
