</color>I have set up nothing yet for firewall rules or masquerading. Linux is in
its
default configuration. I've been taking this in steps, getting one thing
working at a time over a period of weeks, having poured over thousands of
pages of documentation and notes. Thus far I have the following things
operational: Local networking, Samba, ISA PNP, modem, caching name
server, ppp for Internet connection (manual dialing). Next logical step
seems to be getting automatic dialing to work -- which diald does, just a bit
too eagerly!

I currently don't have the time to work out the mystical incantations to
accomplish these things. Frankly, it all seems to be an incredible amount of
research and labor to accomplish what Wingate or Sygate can do out of the
box with a 15-minute install! (It's too bad that Windoze is such an unstable
POS, but for now we'll have to live with rebooting it when necessary.)
However, I do appreciate the tips and will definitely put them to use when I
can get back into trying to make this work...
