I have solved this problem for the applications I use. If you have

Two solutions. 
1  change the order in which diald and portmap are killed so diald
   dies first.
2  edit diald.filter to exclude portmap packets.  This makes more sense
   if you are not running NFS or or rpc using applications over the
   Internet.  In this case, you should also have the same exclusions in
   your firewall rules.
