If anyone recalls, I had a problem with only the masq'd machines.
If anyone of them caused diald to fire, then any client programs would
wait for some unknown timeout (about 15-30 secs), and then the flood
gates would open and all would be well for the client program.
The fix is:

echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_dynaddr
