Okay, I've got the diald problem more nailed down. With the next kernel
recompile I should be able to talk to it over sl0 but I'm still working
out how to get ethertap to work on this ekrnel version (2.2.6). I note
that it doesnot have CONFIG_NETLINK_DEV enabled and wonder if that doesn't
make a difference. Anyway, I have the basic kernel/user netlink driver
compiled right in and ethertap support as a module. I can insmod ethertap
just fine and ifconfig tap0 without a problem, but when I try to access
/dev/tap0 (configured as a char device, major 36, minor 16) I get a "No
such device" error. Does anyone have a resaon for this or am I on my
own..?
