I am trying to set up a RedHat 6.0 system for some friends of mine.

The machine will share a phone line with the voice phone, so i am using
the phone ruleset. I want themachine to dial every houe os so to
        collect mail, and syncg time.

I have a little script that does this just fine on other OS'es
(FreeBSD). It just does a oing untill the line is brought up then does
the real work. However it appears that not only does the ping ( ping -c
-s 64) not get a reply, it never times out!

I don't inderstand his at all. How can this be hapening?

I am runing a cacheing only name server on this machine, and squid
which does some DNS cacdhing for http quesris, but I don;t think this
        is the problem.

        Any sugestions?
