Hi

I am having a major problem with my Internet connection. The fault is not
caused by me but by my ISP. I won't got into to much detail.

I am using Linux 5.2 with Diald 0.16 and PPP 2.3.5. I have a USR Courier
ISDN modem that is used to connect to the net. The linux machine is being
used as a Masq box to two network cards. eth0 and eth1. The connection to
the internet is achieved by a chat script called "connect". this dialds and
runs a simple username/password script. It then starts the PPP daemon.

Everything was working fine , no hassles at all until my ISP decided to
change their routers. They explained that the CISCO routers they use now
don't allow a X.75 connection. And thus gave me the modem settings I would
need to change my modem. This works fine. But now when I dial manually
(using minicom) I get a connect and then it goes straight into PPP (showing
the usual PPP data). They told me I would have to set up the connection
using PAP. I have tried this using the various ways suggested on the net. I
also tried adding a ppp0 interface using linuxconf, supplying all the
relevant details. This works to the stage where I am assigned a IP address
and I can see the interface if I run ifconfig. But if I try to ping the
anything out side my network I don't get a response. I think it has
something to do the routing, I have tried with the ' Use defaultroute
option' on and off, but to no avail.

If I have failed to mention any bit of information please email me and I
will email it to you ASAP.

Any help is appreciated.
