Well, that's one reason :-). On 2.0 kernels you really have
to use a bogus address because of "special" meaning of 0.0.0.0.
But on 2.2 kernels putting *any* address on there means you
get routes which you then have to delete.

  Another reason is because you might want other things to
use an ippp device outside this diald's control. You can
share ippp interfaces with care rather than configuring one
for every possible connection. In that case you might not
want to use any extra, bogus addresses because it can lead
to maintenance headaches when things change.
