Hello there,

I tried to use diald for firing my ppp connection. The problem is that
the link won't come up:

1) Remote statrts pppd as it should, and it sits quietly on the line
2) Local diald (version 0.99.1) is fired like:

diald /dev/pts/5 mode ppp -f /etc/diald.conf -- nodetach debug kdebug 1

(yes, is a pseudo terminal. And yes, I try to run diald over a net
connection. Don't ask more ;) )

...with a /etc/diald.conf containing:

debug 0x0008
local 1.2.3.4
remote 5.6.7.8

After firing diald i got a nice & shiny proxy sl0 iface:

sl0 Link encap:Serial Line IP
          inet addr:1.2.3.4 P-t-P:5.6.7.8 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:10

The syslog output says:

Oct 19 17:12:36 modprobe: can't locate module tap0

(first lines i can guess: Yes, I don't an Ethertap device/module. Then
i don't know what is diald complaining about sl0/what it tries to to
w/ it )

The result is that diald makes absolutely NO attempt to bring up the
link whatever i try to do. Remote logs confirm there are no ppp frames
received.

Any hint how i can nail this down ? I use 2.2.12 w/ SLIP & PPP
compiled in.

Cheers,

Florian.
