OK a couple of people have suggested noauth in /etc/ppp/options of my dial
script ... ( thanks Rex & Andrew ).
BUT .... why does my connection work when I use /usr/local/bin/dial-geordi
but NOT when diald calls my chat script ? ( I'm sure there is a really
obvious answer ... i just can't see it ).
ie. /usr/local/bin/dial-geordi contains:
/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS1 115200 asyncmap 0 \
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chat-geordi" \
crtscts defaultroute -d
