Dave,

For the modprobe errors:  Try adding the following to your /etc/conf.modules
file.

alias        ppp-compress-21  bsd_comp
alias        ppp-compress-24  ppp_deflate
alias        ppp-compress-26  ppp_deflate

And compile compression into your kernel, as modules.

I'm not sure about the SIODELRT message, but it may be related to the module
errors.  If the aliases do not fix the problem then please post your
diald.conf.
