To let diald be more verbose use "debug 93" in diald.options (it
prints a log line for every packet).

To trace DNS queries add this to named.conf:

logging {
        channel log_queries {
                file "/var/log/named.queries";
                severity info;
                print-time yes;
        };
        category queries { log_queries; };
