Scott,

Does your Linux box masquerade for any windows machines?  If so, on the the
windows machines, make sure you have the master browser function set to
Disabled.  This is under the network properties -> File and print sharing
properties.

You may also want to start tcpdump on the ppp0 interface to see what is
actually happening.  Set your diald timeout longer than 15 minutes.

Also, scan the archives as this has come up many times and has had many
solutions.  Look at:
