Hello,

I'm having this problem for a long time... perhaps anyone can help me?

After setting up the pppd and diald files (check files below), I get
always this error message in /var/log/messages: "pppd startup timed out"

Jul 31 17:29:37 Firewall chat[9059]: CONNECT
Jul 31 17:29:37 Firewall chat[9059]: -- got it
Jul 31 17:29:37 Firewall diald[9053]: Connected to site 10.0.0.2
Jul 31 17:29:37 Firewall diald[9053]: Running pppd (pid = 9060).

Jul 31 17:30:37 Firewall diald[9053]: pppd startup timed out. Check your
pppd options. Killing pppd.

Note that PPPD when started as Stand-Alone, works fine.

I'm running a Suse Linux with 2.2.14 kernel.
