It's not there because it wasn't in the original Nokia API,
and we didn't need it. But I think it would make sense to

I'v made a little patch against today's CVS.

I've applied your patch into CVS. Please note that you have to recompile all software that uses the AUDIO_GET_STATUS ioctl, otherwise you'll get segfaults because the size of audio_mixer_t has changed.
