I just checked here with different cards and everything worked fine. Maybe you have a pretty high LNB drift, then the zigzag scan needs some time to find the actual frequency?
Maybe you want to play with the dvb_frontend_recover() code in dvb_frontend.c to optimize this. Please report if you find out more.
