Some of the kernel options which effect the PCI bus, for example try adding "pci=nobios" to the kernel commandline
Alternatively, try using a kernel with ACPI enabled, this has its own mechanisms for interacting with hardware. I think that Win2k & XP default to using ACPI for everything when it is available. Some hardware may not work so well using the legacy BIOS mechanisms which Linux still prefers.
You could also try linux-2.5.70, with and without ACPI.
