Holger, I upgraded from Mandrake 9.1 to
9.2 then installed udev as a dependency for the 2.6 kernel, but I noticed the devfs
daemon still runs on bootup, it takes while then says [OK] and continues.
Am I safe to disable the devfs service? If
so what should I check prior to disabling devfs daemon?

If you don't use devfs (udev for 2.6 kernels) you need
to run the
makedev.napi script to create the
device nodes. it's part of the release
tarball or located in CVS, module
DVB: DVB/driver/makedev.napi.
