Hi Klaus and list,

If dvb-kernel switches channels slower than DVB, I guess this would be
a "no-go" criteria for many people.

That is exactly the reason why I switched back from a 2.6.0 Kernel and a (
then
current ) CVS dvb-kernel driver to a 2.4 Kernel!

I also couldn't see that much performance improvement ( if there is one on a

PIII 733..), had trouble big time to get lirc going, etc.

So 2.6 for now is a no-go for me.

Giving my 2 euroct...

To settle this issue we have to answer the following question: Is channel switching slower with

a) dvb-kernel + kernel 2.6

or (not xor ;) )

b) dvb-kernel + kernel 2.4

My Nova-S with kernel 2.6.1 and 2.4.23+1.0.1 takes exactly the same time to change channel.
Other people reported problems with 2.6.0prexx kernels, which wasn't up to date with dvb-kernel;
maybe they should try kernel 2.6.1 instead.

If a) and b) can this be solved? Development has run for some time in dvb-kernel _only_, thus it would be a pity to backport/throw away that.

IMHO the separation of dvb-kernel and dvb-apps should be made anyway, my question was just, if I should write a new top-level Makefile.
