Yes, ocasionally I see the message from stb0899_wait_diseqc_fifo_empty()
but trying to increase the time in the call did not help. So I am not sure if
my problem is related to that message.

Did you mean the "timed out !!" message from
stb0899_wait_diseqc_fifo_empty() ?
