But, I didn't see ANY evidence of a bug in your logs. All you sent to me (and the list) was evidence of a misconfiguration. You didn't give me you configuration. How am I to tell what it is? Your logs were incomplete and indicated a problem with your IP address resource, and didn't have any filesystem resource mentioned at all, and you didn't answer my question. And, if you read the information on configuring the IP address resource, you'll probably find that you've misconfigured it - in spite of your "known bug" description. But, I can't tell, because you didn't provide even the most basic information needed to solve your problem. Where did the http:// stuff come from? Is that somewhere in your configuration? If so, it doesn't belong there. Myself, I can't tell. The bug report link works for me. I use it every day. Sometimes dozens of times in a day. Other people use it every few days. Bug reports keep coming in. It must work for someone. There is some semi-bogus redirection going on with those links, but I can't really fix all of that. [The OSDL (now Linux Foundation) controls that web site]. But it works. There are more than 30K people using Heartbeat. Is it reasonable that I should have the email from all those people directed to my personal inbox? You said none of your emails showed up in the mailing list. The evidence suggests otherwise. If you didn't see these replies, maybe you have a spam filtering problem. So, what's the problem with the lists? I don't see it. Were you aware that you should post to mailing lists directly, and not put your requests into replies to other people's emails. What you did was very confusing and very likely to make your emails be ignored. The way email works, is you should set the subject line to something meaningful. If you don't people who get hundreds of emails a day besides yours might foolishly think your email has something to do with the subject line on your email. When you write an email the best thing to do is to create an email addressed to the mailing list with a subject which describes what you have observed, as described by http://linux-ha.org/ReportingProblems. This link is on the bottom of every single email coming from the mailing list. It would be good if you would read it and follow the directions it contains. If you send a reply to someone else's email with a subject which has nothing to do with your problem, but with someone else's, then it will be ignored by many people, because we're all quite busy. Even if you reply to someone else's email and change the subject, that is _also_ confusing because your mailer will remember that it's a reply and indicate that in your mail headers, which will in turn confuse people trying to find your new email. On my mail user agent, it shows up as in the discussion thread of the original subject. If I've lost interest in the original subject, I'll never see your email. So, by far the best thing is to create a brand new email (not a reply) and create a descriptive subject line and follow the directions in the ReportingProblems link. You'll find that if you do these simple and very common-sense things that you'll have good results getting help. There are a lot more people with problems than there are people helping them. Please try your best to make it easy on (and not hard on) those few people. Trust me, we very much appreciate it. I have a day job with minimal connection to Linux-HA, and I try and keep my boss as happy as I can. I have a wife who is recovering from a trip to the emergency room at the hospital a few days back. I have a release of the Linux-HA software which needs very badly to come out as soon as we can fix a few important bugs. Yesterday I took a day of vacation to fix some things in my house. The reason I asked you to post to the lists, is because I've been occupied with these and other things in my RealLife, and cannot reliably respond to inquiries sent directly to me. Sending angry replies doesn't increase the probability of an answer to your question. -- Alan Robertson "Openness is the foundation and preservative of friendship...
