Greetings,

I am a newbie in linux HA and need to get a postgresql database
clustered (active/passive) 2 nodes in my work production environment.

I've read some Slony-I docs but I found it very complex for someone who
only have basic knlowdge on database administration so I decided to give
the solution mentioned above a try.

Do you think this will work okay ? In case of 1 node failing is there a
chance of the database getting corrupted(by chance I don't mean that
0.1% chance) ? Do you know any successfull scenarios with this setup ?

We will run the active part of this in a RedHat Enterprise 5 with 4 sas
15k rpm hds in raid-10 hardware controlled disks. The passive node will
be on a more modest setup with CentOS 5 and a mirrored sata volume. I've
heard this solution gives a 10% hit in server performance but since we
will also make a huge upgrade to the server we currently have I figure
this won't impact too much.

And before you sugest me, I can't afford a SAN.

Thanks in advance, I'll look forward to you replies,

Carlos Alexandre
