Hello,

The system I work on currently uses Heartbeat to manage 6 or so virtual IP
addresses on the network. We have several pairs of nodes that each serve as
primary/secondary nodes for this IP addresses. These are fairly typical and
easy heartbeat setups, so my knowledge of heartbeat doesn't go awfully deep.

I was recently asked if, for the next iteration of our system, we could have a
heartbeat configuration that would allow one node to serve as the backup for
multiple primary nodes. For example, if we have three servers that are each
the primary for the separate virtual IP address, could we (instead of having a
matching backup node for each primary) have just one backup node that would be
capable of taking over any or all of those virtual IP addresses if the other
nodes fail.

I don't see this capability spelled out in any of the documentation (at least
not explicitly) so I wondered if any of you have any experience which a
configuration like this.

Thank you very much for your help.
