I'm not sure you can do this.

I'm running a similar setup, but use Pine instead of Elm.  I have my
routing set to route all 44.xxx traffic to JNOS.  Thus, JNOS is only used
as a router and smtp is done by the kernel.  It seems to be a bit slow
at times, but it works.

Pine has a configuration setting for "smtp server".  I don't know if Elm
does also, but possibly this could be pointed to JNOS and messages would
then go into JNOS's mqueue.
