If PactorII is only twice as fast as PactorI then the MFJ 1276 TNC
that on their web site (www.mfjenterprises.com) at $139.95 from AES is a
steal! And to be honest Fred, if I find pactor to be effective I may well
pay for pactorII and sell this cheap one.
My plan is to run this system from my trailer while camped in a
wild place with no suppplied services except 3 creeks with drinkable
water. If the system is fun and works, it will be upgraded. Also plan to
sample 10 meter 1200 baud packet. My antenna is a center fed zepp cut for
80 meters. The radio is a TS-50 with the optional 500 hz filter.
My fear is that the MFJ system has pactor on an e-prom. This may
cause them to cut corners and not have the entire pactorI system. But it
comes with a HUGE book, so I may learn something new.
