The first thing I would do is to install the kernel upgrade rpm's for
2.0.36-3 as 2.0.36-0.7 was a pre-release kernel with several known
bugs in it.

First, check which of the kernel rpm's are installed, as follows:

Q> rpm -qa | grep '^kernel-'

Then look on your favourite mirror site for the updates.redhat.com
mirror, and grab the relevant update rpm's from it...here's the ones
on my local mirror...

Q> 2,228,332 Wed Dec 30 20:13:44 1998 kernel-2.0.36-3.i386.rpm
Q> 502,324 Wed Dec 30 20:13:44 1998 kernel-headers-2.0.36-3.i386.rpm
Q> 94,884 Wed Dec 30 20:13:44 1998 kernel-ibcs-2.0.36-3.i386.rpm
Q> 320,460 Wed Dec 30 20:13:45 1998 kernel-pcmcia-cs-2.0.36-3.i386.rpm
Q> 7,912,333 Wed Dec 30 20:13:51 1998 kernel-source-2.0.36-3.i386.rpm

If you need to recompile, the last one is the main one, but I'd start
by installing whichever of the above you have the 2.0.36-0.7 version
installed for...

Best wishes from Riley.

There is something frustrating about the quality and speed of Linux
development, ie., the quality is too high and the speed is too high,
in other words, I can implement this XXXX feature, but I bet someone
else has already done so and is just about to release their patch.
