Tony, for routing to work, you machine MUST have an IP address on the
serial connection that connects your machine to your ISP. That is why
they will only give you an address on their network. It is not possible
to just plug an address in anywhere and expect it to work. As far as RIP
goes, many ISP's won't support RIP on a dialup line. If you are using
a full period connection like T1 or 56K then you may be able to run RIP,
although many ISP's are moving toward OSPF and EOSPF as their routing
protocols. You may need to get more information from your ISP concerning
the routing protocols they support. The other problem is with your FQDN -
your xxx.ampr.org domain name is registered in the ampr.org domain, so you
would need to contact someone there to do the MX record stuff. (Sorry I'm
still kinda slow on the DNS side of things). Hope that helps.
