Jnos handles this local channel implementation, but I have never been able
to do it with TPP 1.14.

convers reads ~/.conversrc if it exists, and acts on those commands in
it. Here is a copy of my .conversrc file, and the commands for channel and
nickname.
# home/w0plw/.conversrc
/c 32767
/ni Ronnie
#
Note that the stock jnos convers client does not 'see' the nicknames. There
is a hack floating around somewhere that makes it show nicknames. Perhaps
Tom n1kio or Barry k2mf has the skinny on that.

There is also a very nice Linux convers client called colorconv, by Edson,
n1vtn which works in a tty, and is a nice upgrade from the TPP convers
client.
